Thelma Drake has served with distinction in both the United States Congress (2005-2008) and in the Virginia House of Delegates (1996-2004).
In Congress, Thelma’s committee assignments included House Armed Services; Transportation and Infrastructure; Resources; and Education and Workforce. In the Virginia House of Delegates, she served on the General Laws; Corporations, Insurance and Banking; Finance; and Transportation Committees. She also chaired the Virginia Housing Study Commission and served on the Chesapeake Bay Commission.
Thelma has announced that she will not run for Congress in 2010.
Thelma is proud to announce her association with FutureLaw, a Richmond- based law and consulting firm that goes to the next level in providing strategic analysis and direction for clients. Thelma will specialize as a facilitator for a variety of businesses, and will be involved in the FutureLaw practice areas of tax- exempt bond financing and real estate workouts. Thelma will also coordinate FutureLaw’s Renewable Energy Team and provide real estate advisory services through FutureLaw’s affiliated commercial real estate company, Capital Commercial Realty, LLC.
Thelma will utilize her 20-plus years of real estate experience by joining William E. Wood and Associates Realtors while continuing to work with other team members of the Hampton Roads Home Team.
